Read this awesome interview with my grandpa about his past welding career!
ABRAM: Hey Gramps, how are you today?
GRANDPA: Great, how about you?
ABRAM: Good, Felling like interviewing you! Ok, I am going to ask you about your past job in the welding industry, so Gramps, how did you get into the welding industry?
GRANDPA: My dad worked at Dow Chemical and told me there was a shortage of welders in the industry and that was a good trade to learn.
ABRAM: Wow, that is very interesting, how about what was your favorite part about being a welder?
GRANDPA: There was so many types of metal that needed to be welded and every metal welds a little different.
ABRAM: Alright, tell me about your experience as a welder.
GRANDPA: I was asked to weld on high pressure piping under pressure and the skill to weld that pipe was very challenging because you had to be very careful not to burn throught the pipe.
ABRAM: What was your greatest achievement as a welder?
GRANDPA: I was able to advance my carrer by moving up to a welding inspector and looking at other peoples welds to make sure they were welded correctly.
ABRAM: Have you ever witnessed a coworker breaking a safety protocol? What did you do?
GRANDPA: The welder was welding on a pipe in the rack and was not tied off and he fell 30 feet and hit the ground. We called for an ambulance, and He broke a couple bones in his leg and wrist. He missed 2 months of work because of his injuries.
